11:11

For many, superstition or not, the recurrence of certain events may just not be a mere coincidence.

There exists a lot of witchery, beliefs, pseudo-science, theories about numbers and their meaning out there, but whether they are good or bad, whether they influence peoples lives or not, and so on, I wouldn't bet a dime on. There is enough new age fueled mambo-jambo available for everyone to read, in case this topic raised any interest, so I won't repeat any of that.

I stick to the one simple explanation: once we start noticing the first coincidence, we're pretty much hooked with the subsequent ones. We, in short, pay more attention to some random events just because we noticed, or someone made us notice, a pattern. All those "striking coincidences" that people seem to find associated to the recurrence of a number are just the result of a grand scam, and so called experts prove their point by bringing manufactured evidence. Simply, they manipulate you into seeing a pattern where there isn't one.

That said, I am sure that from now on I will have you "manipulated", and if you started seeing more occurrences of the same event don't think the universe is trying to talk to you, because it's not. Just blame me.

Think for example of those dates and times with number 11: November 11, the 100 years cycle of the 11/11/11 date (see the amount of marriages worldwide on Nov, 11 2011), the time of the day 11:11....any possible combination or repeated sequence of this number can't but bring up thoughts on supernatural and spiritual, magical and mystical.

Some say the 11:11 time is good news, some say it is bad news, but all numerology experts (do they have experts for that?) agree in one thing, that number 11 is a master number, as a double digit and as a double 1, and is the most powerful of all numbers...

Now, I've been stalked by number 11 for a while.

It all started with an email sent by a friend with subject "11:11", as that was the time it was sent. From then, I started seeing 11's all over the place. When I check the time it's often at 11:11, I select item 11 from a vending machine, my train card is left with 1111 yen credit, and more and more and countless occurrences of this number in every situation. 

I know exactly that it is only a result of a mental involuntary association, but I can't help but notice every time. 

I need a way out of it. 

Perhaps, from now on, you too...

Per molti, che sia superstizione o no, il ripetersi di certi eventi non rappresenta una coincidenza.

Esistono un sacco di credenze, di finta scienza, di teorie e altro su numeri e il loro significato, ma non scommetterei sulla loro veridicità o influenza su cose o persone, o effetto positivo o negativo. C'e' abbastanza materiale a disposizione se uno volesse informarsi sull'argomento, quindi non vado oltre.

Io mi soffermerei di più sulla sola e semplice spiegazione che una volta che uno nota la prima coincidenza, poi continua a notare anche le successive. In breve, tendiamo a prestare attenzione a certi eventi solo perché abbiamo notato, o perché qualcuno ci ha fatto notare, un motivo. Tutte quelle coincidenze schiaccianti che le persone associano alla ricorrenza di un certo numero sono solo il risultato di una presa per i fondelli e tutti questi pseudo esperti corroborano l'evidenza costruendola. Praticamente manipolano la gente per far loro notare un motivo dove non ne esistono.

Detto questo, sono sicura che d'ora in poi vi avrò manipolato e nel caso in cui iniziaste a notare il ripetersi dello stesso evento non pensate sia perché l'universo sta cercando di dirvi qualcosa…e' solo colpa mia.

Per esempio, pensate alle date e agli orari con il numero 11… l'11 novembre, e poi il ciclo di ogni centro anni della serie 11/11/11 (andate a vedere il numero di matrimoni nel mondo l'11 novembre 2011), poi le ore 11:11…ogni combinazione e sequenza di questo numero non può che suscitare pensieri sul sovrannaturale e spirituale, su magia e mistero.

Alcuni dicono che l'ora 11:11 ha un significato positivo, altri invece dicono che ha un significato negativo. Eppure tutti gli esperti di numerologia (si hanno esperti per questo) concordano nel considerare il numero 11 un super numero, perché e' una cifra doppia e perché e' doppio 1 che rappresenta il numero più potente in assoluto.

Ora, e' da un po che sono perseguitata dal numero 11.

Tutto e' iniziato con una email di un amico che portava come oggetto "11:11", perché era stata inviata a quell'ora. Da li, ho iniziato a vedere 11 dappertutto. Per esempio, controllo l'ora e sono le 11:11, prendo una bevanda dai distributori automatici ed e' quella alla posizione 11, la mia scheda per il treno ha 1111 yen di credito, e altre infinite coincidenze del genere.

So esattamente che tutto ciò e' il risultato di una associazione mentale involontaria, ma ogni volta non posso far altro che notarlo.

Ho bisogno di uscirne.
