Remotely defending - Difesa in remoto

Congratulazioni.

**********

For five years (plus minus epsilon) Morana was part of us.She started a PhD at a university in Stockholm, but physically she was here in Japan all the time. Now, the time for the defense, in Stockholm, has finally come.
Since it is unthinkable that all of us would go to attend, and since the defense is open to the public, and since we somehow wanted to be present as well, we profited of the means of remote connections, and we did Skype with them. Be internet and technology blessed!

The situation here in Yokohama resamples a movie night at home: we connected the pc to the big screen in the meeting room, we have beers, arancini that I prepared the day before just for this occasion (and because boss asked for it…how can I say no), our accomplice in Stockholm who's the audio/video tech for us….everything's ready, we're game. Put aside work for the afternoon, we are all focused and follow the long Q&A session. I should say, for the sake of precision, that some tried to follow the Q&A part, while some used the occasion to skip a whole afternoon at work and chat, eat, drink and commenting on this or that sake's quality….this was all expected, who could actually say no to such a delicious chance? Ah, it was Friday after all, it can be OK for once.

Anyhow, we could follow little of the one hour and more of the defense, but we are confident that our friend managed remarkably.

After three long, very long hours, it's all over, the science world has a new PhD, a smiling and, we hope satisfied, one. Congratulations!
