L'eccezione

************************

2012 Christmas plans, finally, take form. I knew already since some time ago what my destiny would look like, although I hadn't accounted for a few variations to the main theme whose I am still paying a high price for, now....
But anyway, the big news is that mum and dad will be spending Christmas holiday in Australia!

After repeated threatening by us, children, our seniors did indeed get active and the Australian trip is finally reality. I knew, as I said, what I would do in this time of the year because I had already given a few thoughts in spending my holiday in a warm place, and my parents' decision is yet another reason to convince myself and organize.
A lot is still to do, but the biggest efforts are done, established an itinerary, dates, places, flights. Now I only have to focus on the smaller details and then it will all be finalized.

I can't still believe it, this event is so exceptional that it doesn't look real. For my parents it will be a long trip, they are not expert travelers and it seems they will have no time to properly recover seen that their calendar is filling up with dates in order to give all relatives and childhood friends a chance to meet. It is impressive to see how the information machine immediately started moving when the family in Australia learned the happy news: my parents received calls from everyone, even almost-unrelated relatives never seen nor met before who want to get a chance to see them in person, friends and pieces of family from all remote corners of Australia (I had already foreseen it happening knowing how people from my land are and warned my mother) turned up claiming a meeting with this couple who's taking the bother to go all the way from Sicily to the opposite end of the world....also, the majority of those people, once emigrated to Australia, never went back to their homeland, so I can understand the urge, especially emotionally-wise, so that the past can be relived and it will bring joy, laughs and melancholy.

As for me, travel-wise, nothing new. My itinerary is, as usual, crazy and structured so that I can touch multiple destinations along the way, overnight stay here and here, I am not afraid of anything and anyone, I have enough experience on my back to be well trained to face any (oh, well, almost) situation. Also, I became more keen to spoil myself and regenerate the body in between long flights. It's a key point.

From the point of view of the vacation, this time my hopes to indulge in the city nightlife warm up again, since the real guests will be my parents and not me. I expect all the attentions focused on them, leaving me with a good margin of freedom to be able to find my own space and meet a couple of friends!

It is well known, in facts, that family vacation, disregarding what side of the family it is, are tiresome more than relaxing. But maybe, for once, this year it will be different. All in all, I said, this Christmas holidays have multiple sensational factors and must be experienced and recounted afterwards.

So now, last thing to do is finalize the preparation, pack and finally cross the fingers with the wish that everything goes well. Wish me luck. Oh, actually, wish us luck.
