Trick art - Arte magica

*************

Like the beginning, like the end. Me and Michela met in Chinatown in February 4 years ago for the first time. After 4 years, just before Michela leaves Japan for good, we meet again in Chinatown. But I don't want to comment on the sadness around the last meeting….today among the other things is raining, it is like in the tropical places, where you hear the rain falling..like that. So let's not talk about sad stuff.

We went to Chinatown, then, to the Trick Art Museum, a place with paintings that look real. For every piece there is a caption and a sample photo showing how to pose near the paintings to create illusions.
The eyes and the mind are seriously tricked by the optical effects, and among them many famous ones, like the room where two people look one a giant and the other one tiny, and many more…
Obtain a perfect 3D effect, though, is not easy, as me and Michela learned….one has to take into account light, angle, pose, creativity, personal touch….

The perfect photo doesn't how the trick, while our photographs didn't come out well, although we had all the time we needed to try again and again as the place was as empty as doomed.
One of the illusions that held us for long it was a mirror, one of those that reflect not your image, but the flipped image of yours….before realizing what the trick was we spent our 10 good minutes speculating around until we decided we should read the caption….well, but it is an old trick, anyway. It reminded me of the magic tricks me and my brother used to play.

A strip of photos would actually be more efficient than any story, I know. But personal impressions are worth to mention, too. Well, me and Michela had fun like children, and that's what counts.
