Dragon Days

I drago dovrebbero starsene tranquilli e evitare rischi.

Usual appointment with Chinese astrology, for another year has passed by and it's time to start over again.

In two weeks, by the Chinese calendar, we enter the year of the dragon, a special sign in the Chinese zodiac, symbol of power and superiority as it is associated to the emperor, it is a combination of the primary forces in nature and is considered a mighty god -opposite to the negative meaning the dragon has in western beliefs. Basically, it seems to me the dragon is seen by the Chinese as sort of the famous dragon in The NeverEndingStory movie, rather than the legendary figure in western culture, that dragon capable of breathing fire, fly, fight, always seen as a cruel opponent to the heroes in myths and fantasy novels.
People born in the year of the dragon are independent, they prefer to lead instead of being led, they take risks. They might look rude in their willing to do by themselves, but they don't do so to show off, they are actually rather altruistic.

So, we will soon face dragon days, days that, according to the feng shui expert, will be made of "clashes", because the earth element of the dragon will clash with the water element of 2012, days that will be anyway better than the previous year, when we had enough natural disasters, especially earthquakes and floods, and battles between people and within people.

Thinking of a dragon as a monster, evil, and then pairing such vision with the oriental idea of it, as a symbol of power but also such a good creature to deserve the title of favorite sign among the twelve in the Chinese zodiac, is kinda difficult. And yet everybody here expects a lot from this new year. And I am convinced it will definitely be better, just because the previous year was so negative to now sit hand in hands doing nothing, and the optimism will contribute to help people forget about the past and focus about present and future.

This year I don't think I will go and see the Chinese new year celebrations in Chinatown, I have had already enough of my new years celebrations and I don't want to be with hundreds of other people hearing firecrackers.
But those who have not yet seen how they celebrate new year should go and have a look.
Surely the temples decorated with red lanterns are worth a visit, and if you really need it or if you haven't managed to do before, you can pray for your luck and health….you still have time for the new year resolutions.

Now let's see quickly what all signs should expect from the year of the dragon:

The rat is facing a “mixed year,” and should take extra care of their health.
The ox has a multiplying star, which brings both good and bad luck.
The tiger could look forward to a positive year, but should also expect some setbacks. For the rabbit, It has been a difficult year for you, but you’ll have luck in romance and marriage.
Dragons should lie low and avoid taking risks. It could be a challenging time for the snake, but there are plenty of opportunities for growth and achievements.
The horse will experience a fulfilling year, marked with unusual challenges.
While the sheep could enjoy a successful period ahead of them, they should be careful when it comes to personal relationships. Luck favors the monkey, although people under this sign may become entangled in misunderstandings that could turn into legal problems.
It’s a smooth year for the rooster, who would do well to “keep [their] cool.”
The dog should protect themselves from fraud and theft, while the boar should guard against violence and money loss.

May you live every day as a dragon day.
