Shisar Kingdom Okinawa - beach tour

The nice thing of having a travel mate is not only to have another person to enjoy the vacation with, but it is also to have another person endowed with a valid driving license. Which translates into renting a car for the whole stay so to have the maximum degree of freedom on terms of transportation (outside Tokyo metropolitan area, as I indeed already said, public transportation system is not reliable). And seen the bad weather, we couldn't choose better.

In three days we saw something like ten different quiet, deserted, wonderful beaches - the names of some will never be revealed just for our mere and sole satisfaction. The only highway from Naha to Nago was rode at once, with only one stop at a service area with a nice view on the East coast, and from Nago back to the start along rout 58 which sneaks along the West coast, it goes through Onna, Manza areas, the ones with the best beaches and all the resorts. One small bad comment, if I could, goes to the status of the beaches: all the private beaches, belonging to all the most luxurious hotels, are artificial, are submitted to the Japanese man's hand who designed them following his own will, curved them following a precise pattern, protected them with fake rock docks, and even built some of them from scratch bringing sand from who knows where.

Another, more adventurous drive was the one along route 331 that runs along and around South Okinawa. On this second tour we discovered beaches unknown to many, and even a local was impressed to see us there...
Because of the massive clouds, the stunning colors like the green-blue of the waters and the white of the sand weren't so strong, but in any case the beauty of the places are such that the degree of shine is not so important so much. For sure, if it were sunny over there, I wouldn't be here telling the story but I'd be still laying on those beaches!!
