Sfruttando la fase creativa dovuta forse all'eclisse di stamane,pensando alle meraviglie delle postazioni self service riflettevo sul fatto che i giapponesi fanno il possibile per rendersi la vita facile, comoda, libera da ogni preoccupazione.

L'automatismo è il fine ultimo della vita di un giapponese. E a giudicare da ciò che vedo e vivo, direi che i giappi sono avanti.

Ritorniamo per un attimo ai mini market. Appurato il fatto che si può acquistare di tutto, è anche possibile pagare in svariati modi. Anzi, ciò che affascina è proprio il "cerchio vizioso" della mancata circolazione effettiva di moneta. Tutto può tranquillamente avvenire per via elettronica. Non so da dove il tutto parta e dove il tutto arrivi, ma io lo faccio partire dagli abbonamenti per i trasporti. Chiunque qui ha una tessera prepagata ricaricabile che funziona come vera e propria carta di debito: la si ricarica alle macchinette dei biglietti alle stazioni, la si passa sul lettore digitale ai gate e si entra in stazione; la si usa per acquistare dai distributori automatici di cibo, bevande, sigarette, ecc; la si usa per pagare ai minuscoli ristoranti di ramen e soba che si trovano qui è li sparsi tra le piattaforme in stazione; la si usa anche per gli autobus, la metro e alcune linee di treni private. La si usa anche nei convenience stores, ovviamente.

C'è di più. Se non si ha voglia di ricaricare la carta alle macchinette, si può impostare una ricarica automatica mensile che accede direttamente al conto in banca. E così come perla carta, si possono automatizzare i pagamenti di bollette, affitti,abbonamenti internet, pay TV eccetera per far si che avvengano senza che noi neanche ce ne accorgiamo (a meno di controllare l'estratto conto).
Però, diciamoci la verità, siamo stufi di doverci trascinare sta carta ovunque andiamo, giusto? Vorremmo che in qualche modo se ne potesse fare a meno. E allora le preghiere dei più pigri sulla faccia della terra sono ascoltate e i pagamenti che ho già elencato vengono fatti usando...il telefono cellulare!

Andiamo, non ci avevate pensato eh? Beh, qui non è cosa da poco visto che per i giappi il cellulare è più importante persino della propria persona. Ci si guarda la tv, si ascolta la radio o le tracce mp3, si naviga in internet, quindi perchè non incorporare il sistema di pagamento tramite carta di debito nel cellulare? Ah, ovviamente, anche l'abbonamento del telefono e le ricariche della carta possono essere automaticamente addebitate sul conto in banca.
Morale: se non hai un conto in banca e un cellulare, non sei nessuno.

Using the creative phase perhaps due to today's eclipse, I was thinking about the wonders of the self service machines when I reason about the fact that the Japanese try hard to get their life easy, comfy, worries-free.

Automation is the ultimate goal for a Japanese. And judging from what I can see and can experience, I'd say the Japanese are one step forward.
Let's go back to the convenience store for a sec. Acknowledged that everything can be purchased there, also the payment can be done in several ways.

Actually, what fascinates is the "vicious circle" of the lack of money circulation. Everything can easily happen via electronic means. Dunno where all starts, neither I know where it ends, but let's say it starts with the commuting cards. Anyone here has a prepaid, rechargeable card used as a real debit card: you can recharge it at the ticket machines in the stations, you hover it to the card reader at the gates and you're in the station; you can use it to buy food and beverages and sigarette from the vending machines;you can pay at the ramen&soba restaurants scattered on the platforms; you can use it even on buses, subway and some private train lines. You can use it at the convenience stores, too. Clear.

There's more. If you don't want to bother to recharge your card at the machines, you can set up an automatic monthly refund directly digging into your bank account. As for the card, payments for all sorts of bills, fees, apartment rents, internet and pay tv fees, and so on can be automated so that we won't even notice (unless we check the month-end slip).
But, I mean,be honest, we've enough of carrying this card around, right? We would like to do without it, somehow. And the laziest people in the world prayer are heard and all the payments I already mentioned can be done by....mobile phones!!!

Ah, I know, you didn't think about it uh? Well, it's not to underestimate, because the Japanese are nuts about their mobile, more important than themselves.
They watch tv on it, listen to the radio or to the mp3 tracks, they browse the net, so why not to incorporate the same payment system of the debit cards?
Oh, and of course the mobile monthly fee and the card charge can be, too, automatically withdrawn from your bank account.

Moral: don't own a mobile and a bank account, you're nobody.
