Nuova e scientifica puntata di lifestyle: ciò che è veramente giapponese. Una passione accomuna i giapponesi giovani e meno giovani, ed è l'allevare animali speciali. Mi riferisco ad animali del calibro di scarabei, cavallette, scarafaggi, e simili. Non so da dove venga questa passione, nè come si sia radicata nella cultura, fatto sta che l'allevamento di creature del mondo subterraneo è molto diffuso. Si incomincia dai negozi di animali dove è possibile procurarsi esemplari viventi, poi si va per i supermercati in genere, in cui, al reparto giardinaggio, è possibile trovare tutti gli elementi costituenti dell'habitat di questo o quell'animale, dal terriccio, ai pezzi di tronco in cui tali creature hanno dimora, dalle gabbie a tutto il resto.

Inoltre la passione non si ferma qui, tant'è che se proprio non si ha tempo di tenere un insettone vivo in casa, ci sono sempre quelli finti, così che è possibile crearsi un vivaio in casa da mostrare agli amici, seppur con animali in plastica, perfetti nelle dimensioni e nei dettagli. Ancora, se poi proprio non si può fare a meno di portare con se una di queste bestioline, esiste una vasta gamma di portachiavi e ciondoli corredati con animale racchiuso in un pezzetto di ambra. Al vedere tutte queste stranezze la mia mente comincia a pensare e pensare e pensare e investigare le remote e recondite motivazioni che spingono la gente verso tali passioni. Ma tenere un gatto in casa o collezionare francobolli non sarebbe più semplice e normale?

I mean animals like giant beetles and that sort. I don't know where this passion comes from, nor I know how it is so deep in their culture, in fact growing animals coming from the underworld is very very common. It starst from the animal shops where it is possible to buy the living exemplar, then it proceeds with the department stores where, in the gardening section, it is possible to find all the main elements needed for the animal's habitat, from the soil to the woods where the animals have home or hide in, from the cages to all the other stuff.

Furthermore, the passion is not limited to this, indeed in case people don't have time to feed and show to friends these living beasts at home, there's always the plastic replacement, so that one can have one own animal perfect in size and details. And more, if they cannot live without having always with theme these sweet pets, there's a wide portfolio of keyholders and straps, and pendents holding those animals into some amber. Seeing all this weirdness, my mind starts thinking and thinking and investigate the remote motivations that drive people to such passions. wouldn't having a cat or collecting stamps be damn simpler and more normal?
