-temperatura di lavaggio fissa a 30 gradi, praticamente acqua fresca, non lava via nessun tipo di sporco;
-cicli di lavaggio standard, speed o dry(per cose delicate, ma capirai, a 30 gradi non c’e’ manco bisogno di cosi tante opzioni;
-durata fase di lavaggio standard 15 minuti;
-durata risciacquo 30 minuti, con tanto di centrifuga ad ogni turno di risciacquo (circa tre);

Speriamo i miei vestiti durino.

**********

The Japanese are always proud of everything they do as they do it as best: the art of making tea, the art of arranging flowers, the art of calligraphy, the art of gardening and so on…however, in one thing Italian women and our electric appliance designers are far more superior in matters of cleanness and hygiene. I am rather surprised of their way to wash clothes.

But let’s go into the details.

First of all let’s begin with the washing machine: plenty of models are out there, either with loading from above or on the side, full of buttons, screens and what not. But…

-water temperature can’t be set above 30 degrees celsius. basically it’s room temperature water that doesn’t wash away any dirt
-several washing programs for standard, speedy or dry washing (I mean, if all happens at 30 degrees I don’t see the point of so many choices
-standard washing cycle is 15 minutes
-rinse phase is 30 minutes, and with every round of rinse there is a centrifuge step (for a total of three)

The centrifuge in my machine is also so powerful that my clothes come out all knotted together. Never seen something like that before.

At this point, one may think that detergents must be super powerful. Not the case. They do have different detergents for all different kinds of dirt, but they often wear out the fabric rather than keeping the stuff clean and white.

I loved my problem of cold water laundry this way: since the loading of the machine is from above, I can keep the cover open and pour hot water form the outside. Then I set for one or two rounds of just washing, as the various steps of the cycle can be selected individually as well, then I set a full washing cycle.

I hope my clothes will survive. Or actually, I hope my washing machine will survive.
